A new year, for some, is a time of reflection and goal setting. None more so than in the running community where runners begin to plan, prep and start training for new races and adventures.
2026 will be the seventh year where runners will be donning the distinct purple of She Runs: Cardiff at races all round South Wales and beyond. One of the absolute highlights of being part of She Runs: Cardiff is spotting fellow purple-clad runners at the start of races, meeting to calm any nerves ahead of the start line and enjoying the generous support from fellow She Runners.
When the award-winning* She Runs: Cardiff was established in 2019, this is exactly what we envisaged: a supportive, inspiring and welcoming community, where women could come together to celebrate one another. Featured in local print media and on radio, She Runs: Cardiff is designed to be a safe haven, where every woman, regardless of pace or experience, is not just welcomed but celebrated.
Supported by our qualified, experienced Leaders in Running Fitness (LiRF) and Coaches in Running Fitness (CiRF) alongside our committee who oversee the development of the group, runners of all distances are given a warm welcome. From speed to hill and trail runs, we cater to all levels of running enthusiasts. Our highly successful bespoke Walk2Run program further ensures that beginners find their stride in a welcoming community. As well as our 4-6 inperson runs held each week, our lively online community includes over 3000 Facebook members and 3000 Instagram followers.
Over the last six years our ethos has developed to create an inclusive and friendly environment for women to run, fostering not just physical health but overall well-being and happiness. We have trained Mental Health Champions and dedicated welfare officers.
Arguably, what makes She Runs: Cardiff truly special as a running group is our committment to the wider running community. We wish to make a positive impact beyond our group through regular volunteering at local ParkRuns, ultra running events including Pegasus and Ridge Runners and raising funds through our much-loved yearly fundraising relays. To date a phenomenal £27,852 has been raised for local charities including Big Moose, Women’s Aid and Wales Air Ambulance
We hope to see you soon at one of our runs. In the meantime a Happy New Year from all at She Runs: Cardiff – Mae Hi’n Rhedeg: Caerdydd
