Big “Christmas” Marathon Relay for bigmoose!


On Saturday the 10th December from 1030am onwards we are going to hold our final fundraising event of the year for bigmoose 🧡

The past couple of years starting in lockdown we have held a twice annual virtual relay. Well this Christmas we are making it an in-person event!

The premise is simple. Teams of up to 8 runners, Jeffers or walkers will collectively cover the marathon distance between them, relay style. Pace is not important, this is all about coming together and celebrating what we can do together 💜

Starting from the Roath rec our teams will run our regular social run route of 5k, completing a lap each consecutively. The final 2.2k of the marathon distance will be completed together as a team (there is no obligation to stay or return at the end if you are not able to).

For anyone interested in running further there is the option to be on a smaller team and cover more distance…a team of 4 would do 2 laps each, a team of 2 would do 4 laps each, or you can even do the distance solo if you want to!

On the Rec we will have a start/finish/checkpoint area where we will set up. We will have a cake/ drinks stall (all proceeds to bigmoose) and somewhere you can leave belongings if you wish. We encourage you to make a day of it and bring chairs/ picnic blankets!

We suggest a donation to our bigmoose fundraising of £5. There is no obligation to pay this and entry is free as with all our runs 💜

To join a pre organised she runs team there will be a sign up link on our private Facebook group where you can pick a team & slot number. We also welcome solo runners or teams from other clubs to join in – If you’d like to organise and enter your own team please drop an email to .

There’s no obligation or requirement to stay at the rec for the whole day but it would be awesome if we had cheerleaders around to give lots of support to our runners!

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, fancy dress and/or Christmas kit is absolutely encouraged (but not obligatory 😊).
